On Thursday the 4th grade got to celebrate “White Cane Day.” White cane day is on October 15th and has been celebrated for 64 years. The day is celebrated to raise awareness about how the cane helps visually impaired people travel independently. The students got to see different types of canes and even try them out.
Senior Joley Harbaugh and Freshman Kayleigh Vogl were both named 1st Team All-League volleyball players, while Senior Leah Detter received Honorable Mention All-League recognition. Congratulations ladies!!

Last week the Kindergarten class got to visit some more of our town’s community helpers. We got to visit the post office, bank, and library/city office. We got to see behind the scenes and learn about tools that they use to make their jobs easier. Thank you to Janet, Robin, and Priscilla for showing us around!

The 3rd graders built catapults in Science yesterday. They launched marshmallows in the gym to test them out.
On Wednesday, the Kindergarten and PreK-4 class got to visit the fire station. While there we got to learn about the vehicles and tools used by firefighters, EMTs, and police officers. Thank you to Micah Rogers, Kayla Robinson, Jeremy Webb, Officer Webb, and Officer Scott for helping us learn more about their jobs as community helpers.
In the spring of 2023 USD 311 was awarded a waste tire grant from the Kansas Department of Health!
